Description of ELL Program
Language Arts through ELL (English Language Learner) is designed for students in K-12 whose native language is other than English. The curriculum aligned to the Florida Sunshine State Standards. Included are listening comprehension, oral expression, pronunciation, reading, and writing as it supports the skills and concepts presented in the regular English language classroom. The main objective of the ELL program is to develop effectively and efficiently each student’s English language proficiency and academic potential.
ELL at LKO
Here at Lake Orienta, the ELL teacher and the classroom teacher work together to plan and support learning in the regular classroom. The ELL teacher comes into the classroom to work in small groups on a regular basis. We modify the curriculum by using pictures, simplified words, and drawings to explain concepts in are academic areas.
As a Title I school, parental involvement is key to the success of our students. We encourage our students to read throughout the school year. We encourage you to attend one of our ELL nights held throughout the school year.

Descripción del Programa de ELL
La material de Artes del Lenguaje ELL esta diseñada para los estudiantes de K hasta el grado 12 cuyo idioma materno no es ingles. El currículo esta basada en las Normas Educativas del Estado de Florida (Sunshine State Standards). Incluido hay comprensión, expresión verbal, pronunciación, lectura y escritura tal como se enseña en la clase regular.
ELL en LKO:
Aquí en Lake Orienta la maestro de ELL y la maestro regular colaboran juntos para el bien académico de los estudiantes. Una estrategia que usamos es modificar el currículo con palabreas sencillas, dibujos y fotografías para explicar conceptos de las materias como Artes del Lenguaje, ciencia y matemática.
En las escuelas Titulo I la participación de los padres es clave pare el rendimiento académico de nuestros estudiantes. Animamos a nuestros estudiantes a leer durante el año escolar. También queremos invitarlos a participar en las actividades que tenemos durante el año escolar.
